I Never Want To Grow Up

We made it to Grammy's house!!!  The kids are beside themselves with happiness.  We truly meant it last year when we said we were never driving here again, but how do you deny these kids their summers in Michigan?

They love it so muich!!!!  Sarah told us last night that she never wants to grow up.  She wants to be a child forever because being a child is so much fun.

Austin was saying right as I snapped this photo, "Mom, this is Michigan sand.  It's way different than Nevada or California sand."

I do not possess this extreme knowledge on sand as the children do, but they prefer Michigan sand over all other sand.

Greg's mom had dinner as soon as we arrived last night and we were thrilled to get a homecooked meal after eating on the road for three days.  Then we piled back into the car and headed downtown for Friday Night Lights, which is a street fair.

Here's a picture of Greg's back because I can't keep up with him or the kids.  I lost them several times.

From a distance, it seemed they enjoyed it.  I might take up jogging so I can participate with the Fast Walkers.

The kids can't wait to get some fudge.  Amanda said this is her dream job.

My plan is to head to the Farmer's Market this morning and then park it on the beach while the kids play in the Michigan sand.

I'm glad we came.  Plus, Greg's mom knows how to keep me happy.

I think this is the first photo of Greg NOT wearing a white shirt I have seen!

  2. I didn't even know where to look to find him last night because it was so confusing.

  3. Scratching my head over the last caption. Greg's mom takes you shopping at Target? Helps you kill chickens? What?

  5. Thank God she had the bottle waiting, did you drink the whole thing after 3 days in the car with 5 other people? LOL! I don't like MI sand because it's scratchy, FL sand is so soft and almost white, but I guess it's the memories of them playing in it that makes it special. Enjoy TC!

  6. The kids are right, MI sand is the best sand ever! :D Of course I might be kind of partial to MI sand.

Enjoy your stay here in the mitten!

  7. Welcome Back to TC. I know the ride is a nightmare but I'm with the kids it's always worth it. And Michigan sand is the best it's attached to fresh water not salt. I lived overseas and traveled the world but there's no place like home in TC.

  8. Stupid side note... Tonight Alison wore the shirt Sarah has on. Have you been perusing Penney's? I love their clothes for girls now, and you can find some really good deals. I ordered in bulk, hahaha

  10. Crap, that's right! I get shopping amnesia, meaning I "forget" exactly what I spent and where I went. It's always rounded down to the nearest dollar, $4.99 becomes 4 dollars, etc...

  11. Michigan sand is the best sand ever and TC does a great job with the beach....if you are looking for something to do this coming weekend, Elk Rapids just up 31 has Harbor Days with lots of stuff going on for kids and the beach in town there is really nice too if you want to drive the 20 minutes to get there. PS....the Town Club always has the drinks ready, there's a reason we call it the Clown Tub ;)

  12. We only drive 30 hours on our annual pilgrimage but after that much fast food we all feel like slugs. Last year I couldn't eat a burger for 5 months. I have started packing food in a cooler. We take fruit, cheese, yogurt, snap peas, crackers, bread, sandwich stuff, etc. The kids love it and so do we. Everyone feels much better, we eat better and we are all nicer since we don't have a bunch of junk in our systems. We always stop at hotels like courtyard or residence inn that do free breakfast. That means just lunch and dinner. We might hit a drive through for a dinner to change it up but mostly we prefer this. And it is easy enough to atop and replenish at a grocery store along the way.
