I forced the children, against their will, to go to Red Rock Canyon today because I am totally over their new phase where they just want to sit in the house.
I am sitting in my laundry room for four hours a day. Do you feel my soul dying?
We were there for exactly five minutes when Amanda tripped over her own feet and broke her fall with her new permanent teeth on a boulder. We weren't even climbing. One minute she was walking in front of me and the next thing I knew she did a face plant. She hit her permanent lateral incisor and her baby eye tooth and there was blood gushing out.
OHMYGOD, did I not say that was going to happen like two weeks ago in my Orthodontist Freakout post?
So we had to hurry back to the car and put ice on it.
Thank God it's not chipped. I have a feeling her eyetooth will be coming out sooner than expected. Good grief, there is no way that child is going to make it with all her teeth.
Once everything calmed down, everyone decided they weren't ready to leave. They weren't ready to leave even when their sister was injured. I had to force them back to the car with their crying, bleeding sibling.
They don't want to go anywhere and then don't want to leave when they get there.
I told them, "Listen, you guys. I know we've been coming here since you were babies, but this is not a playground. People DIE HERE. They get crazy and fall off cliffs AND DIE. You need to respect your limitations. You aren't sharks. Your teeth aren't going to grow back once you have your adult teeth."
They were like, what do you mean it's not a playground?????
It's God's playground, Mom.
This moron stood up on a boulder for five minutes trying to get his cell phone to work. Can you hear me now????
We found the coolest cave ever. The boys decided that aliens used to live inside. Gregory climbed in and said it was his bedroom. Doesn't it look like an alien face with the two eyes above and the mouth? This might be our new favorite place.
Despite repeated warnings not to get their feet wet, they did not listen and had horrible soakers, caked with clumps of red sandstone.
I'm sure I'll enjoy listening to their shoes thumping around the dryer tomorrow while I'm in my laundry room.

Where did you find the water? The boys love going in Oak Creen Canyon because the creek usually has water. I'd love to find another trail that has water!!. I'm getting tired of hiking the same one.
Love it and it is God's playground - at least here in Vegas :-). We were hiking in a place a little bit north of there yesterday. It was a beautiful day!!!
Michele, would you please blog this morning so I have something interesting to read!
I read this post THIS MORNING and thought to myself how lucky I was to not have ever had a kid fall and crack their teeth.. SOOO of course we had unseasonably nice weather today and the boys were in the trampoline and my almost 7 year old decided to jump at or jump over his older brother.. WHO EVEN KNOWS WHAT HE WAS DOING!?! Flies into the trampoline netting and bangs his teeth into the pole.. that just had the padding removed due to it falling apart...
Ended up with an emergency appt with our dentist, panoramic and regular x rays to determine THANKFULLY.. that there is no broken roots or permanently ruined teeth.. There are 2 chipped teeth but 1 is a baby and we will ignore it.. the other will get fixed in the future..The other front tooth was whacked out of position and since it was too late to get into the ortho for a temporary brace.. my AWESOME Dentist went McGeyver on me and created a *bandage bridge* out of dental composite and strapped the loose tooth to the tight one next to it! I cannot WAIT for that bill.. even with insurance!
Nothing shocks me- Ohmgosh, that makes me sick to my stomach. No kidding that I read your comment and 15 minutes later my friend Laura with the triplet boys called me to say that a neighborhood kid threw a rock at one of her boys and chipped his front tooth off. WTH????? GAWD!
