So our trip really started when we arrived at Jodie's house and her awesome backyard.
This is Jodie and my kids and Emma Rose. Jodie missed her calling, because she should have been a preschool teacher. She is SO GOOD with kids. Kids LOVE her.
This is my most favorite picture of Leslie and Emma Rose.
We even had a fire and roasted marshmallows. On the right is Caity, Erika's 6 year old daughter. Caity is amazing. She has Type I diabetes (Rob, I heard about Kelly) and she has it all under control. Caity monitors herself and Erika watches her carb intake constantly. She's doing really well.
Jodie was such a gracious hostess. She had a huge spread of food for all of us. Since she lives 2 blocks from Disney, they pop in and out of there like it's their own personal playground. So going with her was like having our own tour guide, who doubles as a preschool teacher.
When we got to Disneyland the passes worked! I wasn't sure if they would, but they did. CHA-CHING! But then we discovered that they didn't have double strollers. So I rented three singles and the kids fought over who would be sitting back and who would have to perch on the wheel. If you've ever had a kid perched on the wheel and you try to steer, uh yeah, it's hard.
But at least they were contained. I dressed them alike for tracking and wrote my cell phone number on their arms with a Sharpie in case we lost someone. Everyone that saw that thought that was a brilliant idea, and one lady asked if we had registered the kids with Disney? HUH?
So we waited in our first line and went on the "rocket ship" which was a huge hit.
Then the carousel was next, which as you can tell, was another big hit.
While waiting for Dumbo, Austin got really bad. His eyes looked horrible and he told me his head hurt. I was very worried. Jodie took him out of line and put him in the stroller and we didn't know what was going one. Erika had Motrin with her, so we dosed him up. When we got off the ride, he had tried to go to sleep and just couldn't. When he saw me, he just cried. But we started walking and he passed out and slept for an hour and a half. When he woke up, he was just fine. Thankfully, because I was prepared to leave if I had to.
Then he wet his pants. Did you know you can't find shorts to buy in Disneyland? You can find a million t-shirts, but if you need shorts, FORGET IT! I can't believe I didn't think to bring shorts with me.
Look it's Goofy's son. I didn't even know Goofy was married.
Fortunately, I had dressed Austin in mesh shorts that dried really quickly, so it was on to the teacups.
Here's all seven kids, all six and under. I thought the kids did really well. We didn't have any big meltdowns and we were there for 11 hours! They really loved Toon Town and we spent quite a long time in there in Goofy's house and Donald's boat.
Next was the boatride through Storybook Land. That was a big hit to the kids since they are Disney junkies.
I didn't get a picture of them on the roller coaster, but Austin actually put his arms up in the air. He did that because he's four years old, not two.
The park wasn't that crowded either and although it got hot during the afternoon, it cooled down once the sun went down. It was a great day!
So we stayed right until the park closed and even watched part of the parade at the end, which was another HUGE hit.
Hairbrained Scheme 281 was a success!
So what are we doing for an encore next year? Legoland???????

No, make a short trip to Switzerland, and then we would have 9 kids under 7. How does that sound?? LOL
Anyway, your trip sounds great, I just wish we could go to Disney Word, too.

Yeah, LEGOLAND!!!!!!
Yeah...for Scheme 281...So happy to here everthing went well and Austin is OK..I like the idea of your cell phone number written on their arms. Legoland is fun, I visited it when my son and his family lived in CA. a few years back. Judy from PA.
If anyone could handle that many kids at DL, I knew it would be you! Not sure I would have handled my one there - LOL! Loved the idea of your cell # written in Sharpie marker on the kids - that was brilliant! You rock darling!
